Next in my series of “Evolution” are the men, women and entities that God has used to speak LIFE over me in the formative/transformational years of my Christian journey.
My earliest memories are of a little church in South Memphis on Richmond Street named “Eternal Peace”. I recall being there for Sunday School, 11am Services, 3 o’clock programs, playing in/underneath the pews (and getting my legs torn up!! 😂), imitating the deacons praying and women ‘shouting’ (wigs falling off … and getting my legs torn up for laughing! 😂), and most importantly: Sunday dinner in the church kitchen!! 😋
It was there that I met my very first (not blood related) Best Friend! Still today, she’s my longest and oldest friendship!! ❤️👭🏽 She was also my Pastor’s daughter so, besides all the joys of experiencing “real” friendship for the first time, there were other ‘perks’ of being the coolest with the Preacher’s kid (and I’m a P.K. myself! 😁)!!! ❤️ Not only were we friends, our families were also cherished friends- so much so that when her Father moved to Pastor a new church, my family moved to follow!! Second Baptist Church at 1208 Florida is where I “really” came to know my Mother and Granny’s God!! 🙌🏾
… my introduction to the choir that would change my entire life. ❤️❤️❤️
Well into my teen years, my family transitioned to other ministries. Yet I remained at Second Baptist with my second family (the First Family ❤️) to continue the work of the ministry. Still introverted and awkward, my church family supported me and gave me the confidence to minister God’s grace in local churches without reservation. The boost of confidence in ministry that my church family gave me was much needed for my “next” …
